Bling of the Month: November Edition

Happy birthday to all November gems. I hope you enjoy this time with your friends and family. Just as November brings more holidays and social gatherings, it also brings two of my favorite gems: topaz, the traditional birthstone, and citrine the modern birthstone. Here is your bling of the month.

Tantalizing Topaz

A symbol of friendship, prudence, foresight and love, this fantastic stone is set to give the person honesty and objectivity. As a talisman it was said to release its wearer of dangerous passions, even used, at times, for diplomatic meetings. As far as healing, this gem is said to chase away insomnia and the "evil eye." Even though it comes in shades ranging from bloody orange to pink, I personally wear a lot of blue topaz, especially for work as I feel its icy blue color helps keep me cool, calm and collected.

Topaz is not the only birthstone for the month of November, but it is considered the classic one. Citrine is the modern birthstone. Topaz is a very popular stone, and rightly so as it has been that way since Biblical times. In case you didn't know, it was one of the gemstones used in the foundation of the twelve gates to the Holy City.

Celebrity Set.
Gorgeous cluster style earrings in blue topaz, aquamarine,
and of course diamonds.  Both the matching
ring and the earrings are handmade in 18kt white gold.

Topaz is very beautiful and resistant stone. In the Empire period, it was rather widespread, until citrine took over, making topaz more exotic than ever before.

Throughout the ages, people have believed that all gems have different healing and magical powers. One of my favorite stones these days is the beautiful and lemony Citrine, which is known as the "success stone" because it promotes success, along with prosperity, and abundance. It is also known as the merchant's stone, because it is said to particularly promotes success in business.

Sexy Citrine

Citrine is a stone of good fortune, although it sometimes brings good fortune in unexpected ways. When I was studying at the Gemological Institute of America, I learned that this is also a stone of manifestation, helping manifest abundance in many ways. Along with prosperity and good fortune, citrine imparts generosity. It is also known as a solar plexus chakra stone, and it is said to increase and magnify personal energy and power.

The main reason I like Citrine is that it dissipates negative energies of all kinds, so for me wearing a piece made of this gem is like wearing my own beautiful armor. Citrine does not absorb any negative energies from its surroundings, and can be used to clear unwanted energies since it helps generate stability in all areas, and is good for general protection.

In the mental area, citrine enhances mental clarity, confidence, and will power, as well as helping increase creativity and promote honesty. Emotionally, citrine relieves depression, self-doubt, anger, and irrational mood swings. Because of its beautiful yellow color, this is a stone that brings happiness and cheer to one who carries or wears it.

In the psychic and spiritual realms, citrine is good for general psychic awareness and spiritual development. Citrine clears the aura of negative energies and influences, and is known to also be very useful for meditation.

In crystal healing and folklore, citrine is said to be beneficial for the digestion, stomach, eliminating nightmares and other sleep disturbances, thyroid, general health, heart, kidney, liver, muscles, strength, endocrine system, circulatory system, tissue regeneration, urinary system, immune system, diabetes, fibromyalgia. Citrine is also reputed to be good for removing toxins, and overcoming addictions.

Citrine goes great with other gemstones too.
These are pear shaped lemon quartz enhanced by
rainbow shades of amethyst,
citrine, blue topaz and peridot. FAB!

I have studied all about gems and their properties, and in all my course material they have always included their metaphysical properties. Now, although I'm not 100% sure that these claims are true, I do love that gemstones have that certain magic attached to them. Hope you enjoyed reading about topaz and citrine today and expect much, much more in the future.

Love Always
Dani K
