Last Thursday was a very exiting time for me as I was chosen by the host of Telemundo's version of the Oscars, Premios Tu Mundo to select pieces from my collection for her to wear on this very important night.  For those of you who don't know, Telemundo is owned by NBCUniversal, and its programming is syndicated in over 100 countries worldwide. Yes, this event was a big deal.




Hosted by the beloved actress and TV personality Gaby Espino, the awards boasted such luminaries on its blue carpet such as Olga Tanon (also in Daniella Kronfle Jewelry), David Bisbal, Sonya Smith and Elvis Crespo. This Miami event was not to be missed and I could not have been happier to be working with my team on this amazing night.

To select Gaby's look we work closely with her team of stylist and PR people. Every detail is important, and nothing is to be left by chance. Special one of a kind shoes were ordered, dresses were fitted and of course jewelry was to be the final glittery touch. Styled by my dear friend Claudia Zuleta, here is her first look of the evening, a stunning neon yellow dress, in which she walked the blue carpet before she opened the ceremony.





In a dress by Colombian designer Gustavo Arango, Gaby wore my always classic 18kt yellow gold and diamond pavee hoops. Nothing much was needed for this high impact look, which had plenty of sparkle on on it's own.







Gaby was not the only celebrity walking the red carpet in Daniella Kronfle  Jewelry. I also had the pleasure of "frosting" the always awesome Olga Tanon, as mentioned above, it-girl Sara Corrales, and the diva Aylin Mujica. You will have to wait till next post though.  Stay tuned!

Summer is almost here, so I wanted to do a post on one of the great gemstones of summer: Coral




 Even though it's not really a gemstone (chemically it is similar to the pearl), coral is the "stone" of the sea. It is also one of the most ancient gems, having been used since prehistoric times. Coral ornaments have been unearthed in tombs dating from 500BC. Ancient Chinese cultures used them to signify wealth and power, and oftentimes the emperors wore red coral in their belts and headdresses. In Ancient Rome, it was a custom to hang red coral from the necks of children to protect them from harm. This is how we get to the coral jewelry we wear today.
Coral comes in a ranges of colors, with red and pink being some of the most popular for jewelry designs. It is usually cut into bead or cabochons for use in the jewelry design trade, and its organic characteristics inspire what some call a natural or even summery look. Although coral has been historically used by many cultures for it's healing properties, it is still used today for the same purposes. It is said to help keep harmony, relieve tension and reduce fear. These are all very good reasons to wear coral jewelry year round, but I love coral because it has, from a design viewpoint, a lot of versatility. Coral can appear, depending on the design of the piece, exotic, elegant, natural, earthy classic or ethnic. In the earrings below, you can clearly see that this is an elegant and timeless piece, with the coral adding a splash of modern color.
If you prefer smaller pieces or are still afraid to wear a lot of color, the ring below is an option so you can at least have some coral in your jewelry box. The coral ties in perfectly with the flower theme, looking very natural and earthy, without loosing that touch of femininity. The diamonds take this piece from day to night in a flash, making this a very versatile piece.
Coral is much softer than other gemstones, so you do have to treat it with extreme care. Be careful around hot water, perfumes and chemicals, as coral is porous and may change in texture or color. Coral should always be stored properly, and protected from scratches or blows. Cleaning it is very simple, just wipe with a clean damp cloth, dry and store to keep its unique qualities.

Welcome back to my awards season coverage! Today I am covering music's biggest night, The Grammy Awards. As per usual the red carpet was as star-studded as you would image, and as rock and roll as you would, too. Although the big film stars chose to sit out the awards this year leaving the spotlight to their musical counterparts, the 2014 Grammy's were full of fun styles and interesting jewels.




With the trend of no necklaces still in full swing, the Grammy's showed us this past weekend that girls just want to have fun, with diamonds that is. Here are some of the fashionistas who decided to forgo jewelry on their decolletage, although basically I did not see one neckace, on anyone...

I started hating this "missing necklaces" trend at the Golden Globes, but after the SAG Awards I think I am understanding this concept. I'm not behind it 100% but I do like that it leaves room for bolder pieces to be worn, which leads me to one of the nights biggest and best jewelry trends,  the return of the big earring. The ladies who did it best were Miranda Lambert, who was stunning in a plunging red dress...




and the awesome and overlooked Pink...





as well as funny lady Ana Farris...




Another important jewelry trend last Sunday was sexy "bejewelred hands". The nights two biggest trendsetters being Beyonce and Rita Ora, who were dripping in Lorraine Schwartz sparklers.

As far as red carpet gowns go, we saw a lot of blue again, just like at the SAG Awards, and tons of metallic dresses. Here are the best of the girls in blue. Notice not one of them is wearing a necklace...





and in metallic, (with no necklances again)....





My best dressed person overall was Queen Bey, who stroked the perfect balance of classy, sexy, rock, diva, gangsta, trendy, etc. Just perfect. Her dress was on trend with see through allover, and her jewelry was just right. She felt amazing and it shows! I mean just look at her...Perfection!




Hope you enjoyed my dissection of all the Grammy jewels. I really do enjoy watching these red carpets and trying to see what's next, what's new.  As someone who lives and works in the world of fashion, I do believe it is important to keep current, plus its loads of fun.

This past Sunday all of Hollywood, OK most of Hollywood, got together to pat themselves on the back and give us the show that says, "hey Oscar! I look good, but I'm saving my best dress just for you". Snark aside, the Golden Globes really are our first important glimpse to what the year's fashion trends are going to be, as well as the ones from last year that are still going strong. 

After watching the official red carpet, I usually look at the pictures many times to see what are the looks preferred by stars and stylists alike. The looks that will influence what we want, how we wear it and how we spend our money.   I also do an overall best dressed list, just like you, and here it is.





My six picks for best dressed celebs are mainly chosen because I loved the fit, the accessories, and of course the dresses themselves. As you can see all of these beautiful women have one thing in common. The jewels and accessories are kept to minimum, heralding the the biggest trend this year to be minimalism on the red carpet. 

I am a jewelry designer, and my signature pieces are bold by nature, so minimalism is not my favorite thing to see, however this year at the Globes, it was done to perfection. Now of course there were some exceptions. I saw a lot of bare earlobes, which I think looks unfinished. I would never send anyone on the red carpet without earrings, but to each its own. Not my favorite red carpet tendency, and I hope it stays in the 90's, where it belongs, never to be seen again. 



Since we already discussed the unsavory business that is bare lobes, let me make it up to you by showing you the night's biggest trend in earrings, again very minimal, which was studs. Everyone who was anyone was wearing cute, but very deliberate studs.  




My three faves, which are Sandra Bullock in black diamonds, Mila Kunis in gorgeous emeralds and Emma Watson in very interesting pearls all wore architectural frocks that did not need much adornment, as well as very interesting rings. Like I said, accessories were kept to a minimum.

Someone who did not go for studs was Emma Roberts, and that is why she wins Best Earrings in my book. 




Emma wore a very simple off-the-shoulder black dress, which would have been completely unnoticed had she not chosen to complement it with these beautiful diamond and turquoise chandelier earrings. Showstopper! Game changer! Call it whatever you want, but this is the best she has ever looked, and I think it's her way of saying "look at me I'm not a child actress anymore," Mission accomplished Miss Roberts. Can't wait to see her at the Oscars, and on her hit TV show American Horror Story. 

Now Emma did succumb to one trend, one that I don't mind if it's done right like she did, which was the bare neck, or no necklace look that most of the stars and starlets were going for on Sunday. I think that stylists are all saving big pieces for the Oscars, but don't take my word for it. Here are just some of the celebs who chose to go bare. 




One who did not was the always fabulous Naomi Watts, who looked like the golden statue herself in a gorgeous gown, with even better jewelry. 



Naomi Watts is always one of my red carpet favorites because she always looks very natural, like she just went into her closet and pulled out a dress and her favorites pieces, and Voila!. She never looks as she borrowed her dress, or like she is just a showcase for a designer. By the way, her dress is Tom Ford and her her jewels are Bulgari. Bravo once again Naomi!

But not everyone looked as amazing and fresh as Miss Watts on the red carpet. Two beautiful women whom I wish would have stuck to the bare neck and minimalism movements were Sophia Vergara and Heidi Klum. 





OMG. What happened! Both were over the top and clownish. Fire your stylists, please! They just made you look old and costumey. Two thumbs waaay down, and sorry! Better luck next time. 

The Golden Globes came and went, but their fashion trends remain. Let's see what Hollywood has in store for us in the coming months. Remember we still have the SAG awards, the Oscars, Venice and Cannes. I will be here with my take on all the red carpet hits and misses.

Many of you already know Claudia Caporal from her stints  as lifestyle expert on Univision or Radio Amor. If you don't, Claudia is a woman of style with an influential voice in the Latin community as well as a good friend of Daniella Kronfle Jewelry, who at her latest event wore some of the new piece of our holiday collection. Here is Claudia at her seminar "Yo Soy Poderosa," in some of our most beautiful jewels.





Representing the modern woman, Claudia spoke to a roomful of women in Miami a few weeks ago and was amazing. She is mother, wife, "jefa de la casa," as well as being a multifaceted woman who plays many roles and encounters many scenarios in her daily life. Her seminar was inspiring as well as enlightening and had an amazing message that I think all women should take to heart.







As you know I am a big believer in the power of women and Claudia is also on the same page. She believes that women should embrace their role in society and take it with grace and lightness, and of course a lot of style.  In her seminars she offers solutions to both big and small  dilemmas that thousands of women face every day. Claudia suggests women take the reins of their agitated lives and helps them, step by step, to take control of their agitated lives, so they can triumph in every role.





When we were approached to accessorize Claudia for her very important and successful seminar, we went to work immediately. Her pieces had to convey her very important message of female empowerment as well as be stylish and bold. For this I chose two pieces from my holiday collection, which are a re-design of two classic pieces from my famous Wanderlust collection. Here they are...






This beautiful pieces are handmade in white agate, orange sapphires and diamonds. The statement ring is a perfect piece because it commands a lot of attention. The earrings are the perfect complement because, they too are very bold and look awesome on stage. Here is Claudia having a blast wearing her Daniella Kronfle Jewelry.





Her honesty and humor have made Claudia a household name, and her talent and skill  have caught the attention of companies such as Procter and Gamble, Johnson and Johnson, and Clorox Company, who have associated her products with her image. Working with such an accomplished woman is what Daniella Kronfle Jewelry is all about. We loved supporting Claudia and we love her message. Thanks to my new collection, the last couple of weeks have been very productive, and I have new pieces to share with you. Today I have, not one but two fabulous and fresh versions of my super popular Papillon ring.


This first piece in black gold and black and white diamonds is very different and super edgy and fresh. This version is a departure from my romantic papillon ring, and that was the entire point.  When I am designing I am always try to keep classic pieces such as this one one step ahead of the trends. Here are a few shots of the ring to show you what is looks like from every angle. 






The craftsmanship in this piece is superb; just take a look at the back of the ring, it is flawless and ergonomic to boot.  The small perforations are there to keep it light and wearable. Many times jewelers go to heavy and the pieces are cumbersome and hard to wear. This is never the case with any of my jewels, as my goal is to make every piece to feel part of the wearer as if she was not wearing anything at all.




For my second version I went more traditional, and designed the wings of the butterfly in pink tourmaline, and white and fancy diamonds. The body of the insect is a diamond solitaire and it is all handmade in 18kt rose gold.

If you look closely you can see my intricate design, which matches that of a true papillon. Diamonds are always beautiful, and add value to a piece of jewelry. They also add powerful mythology and history, as diamonds have been known for centuries for their extraordinary strength. Most importantly they are associated with true love and eternal commitment. They are also said to bring courage and strength to the wearer, while bringing clarity and balance to the relationship.



The butterfly appears historically in art and jewelry, and consistently in my designs. Yes, it is a beautiful creature, but I love it because it is also one of nature's biggest holder of lore and mysticism. When I design a piece it has to not only be stunning, it also has to have meaning. The suggestion of transformation behind the butterfly is a very powerful theme, and one I love to design around. My papillon ring for 2013 is the epitome of this belief.
