On the Go: Miami Design District

One of my top spots for grabbing a bite, shopping or just chilling is the new(er) area in Miami, in and around the Design District. How this place has evolved!  It wasn't many years ago that it was just "urban decay," and now it's a vibrant destination for art and design lovers.

Walking is where its at, on the Design District.  You can't really experience the vibe without taking a stroll. When I visit, I tend to walk over to the adjoining Wynwood district to check out the graffiti.  It's always changing, and keeps me interested in what's going on in the street art scene. But even artists have to eat, and when they do they eat in style.

Mandolin Aegean Bistro, pictured above, is one of my go-to places in the District.  This cozy restaurant (on NE 2nd Ave) never disappoints.  The food is always fresh and never trendy or tired, perfect for a summer afternoon.  Consisting of tapas style offerings, the menu is full of exquisite dishes such as salads, seafood and veggies.

Although art and design are always on the agenda, it's hard not to stop at all the shops in the District. I never leave without making a run into Maison Martin Margiela.

Or like most girls, checking out the fabulous shoes at Louboutin.

Even though I like to dress comfortably for casual days like these, I always accessorize. After all, a girl should look her best all the time. These red shoes are my top pick this season; I love how they complement any outfit.

What goes great with a fantastic pair of Louboutins? Sexy jewelry of course!  Any of these beauties look great paired with jeans and a tunic for a breezy summer afternoon like this one.

Cool and modern: Rhodocrosite, smoky quartz and diamonds look
fabulous together in this earring and ring duo.
Both in 18kt yellow gold.

For a look that's a little more hip you can go for these hot
black and white diamond hoops, paired with
this exotic serpent ring also in black diamonds, hugging
a South Sea pearl.  For a touch of elegance,
the snake eyes are finished in emeralds.
Both pieces in 18kt black gold.

One of the best parts of visiting the Design District during the summer is that the heat keeps out the crowds. I know most of you visit during the season, but its also cool to visit Miami while it's hot.

Cheers!
