To Die For: Tiger's Eye

Fabulous drop earrings in tiger's eye,
surrounded by luscious green garnets.
Notice the little white diamonds add a touch
of glamour and romance, the perfect
finishing touch.

Tiger's eye (tigers eye, tiger eye, tiger iron) is a member of the quartz group of chalcedonies. It is one of the chatoyant gemstones. Chatoyancy exhibits a changeable silky luster as light is reflected within the thin parallel fibrous bands. This effect is due to the fibrous structure of the material. I love working with this beautiful gemstone because it is very versatile, and I find that its timeless and woodsy coloring is a great look for all seasons.

What could go better with the earrings above?

white diamonds, this handmade, 18kt gold
design will put anyone on Santa's good list.

When designing my collections I take very seriously the magical powers and healing qualities of gems, before I choose what materials I am going to use. Many legends about quartz say that wearing tiger's eye (which is a form of quartz) is beneficial for health and spiritual well being. Legend also says it is a psychic protector, great for business, and an aid to achieving clarity. Tiger's Eye lets you see everything. Use it for insight and you can be a very lucky person. When used in jewelry, tiger's eye may bring good luck and protection from the evil eye to the wearer.

If green is not your thing, the Think Pink!
Here the same beautiful tiger's eye takes a
different, more discreet direction,
surrounded by pink sapphires and diamonds.
Just as exotic as the pair above, but only a tad
more delicate, these beautiful pendant-style
earrings are the perfect piece for day or night.

Here is another option for pink lovers.
Sexy and sweet these charm-style
pink sapphire and tiger's eye earrings
are great with jeans or a cocktail dress.

As someone who has been practicing yoga for a long time I appreciate the healing qualities of tiger's eye.  Tiger's-eye or Cat's-Eye is a stone for the mind, not the body. Tiger Eye is used to focus the mind. It will cause the mind to have feeling of oneness and feel more direct in all thoughts. It makes one aware of one's own needs related to the needs of others.

The matching ring is also a beautiful example of
the versatility of tiger's eye jewelry.

When looking for a great piece of jewelry, either for a gift or for yourself, keep in mind that this gemstone is more than myth and legend.  Yes it's said to protect the wearer during travel, always a great reason to buy jewels if you ask me, but tigers eye is also very, very wearable.  Look at this gorgeous statement ring designed and carved out of one big piece of tiger eye.  The diamonds and rose gold are the perfect complement to the orange and brown tones.
Stunning and one of a kind, rose gold
and diamonds bring out the beauty of
tiger's eye, in this fantastic statement ring.

I know I have said it before, but I will say it again:  Tiger's eye is definitely one of my favorite stones to work with, and luckily one of my clients' most popular stones.  It is a good stone for jewelry that you wear all the time, so that it’s steady energy can work deeply. It’s grounding and enduring qualities make it an excellent stone for meditation and yoga.  Come by and look at some of our exquisite pieces.

Love Always
Dani K
