Inspired in part by the cool blues of the beautiful water of the Mediterranean Sea, my Diana ring is mainly a tribute to the people's princess and everyone's favorite all time royal, Lady Di.  We've all seen and coveted her iconic sapphire engagement, and this was my way of remembering such a chic and classy woman.



Lucky for us we still have Duchess Catherine to carry on her legacy.  If anyone has the chops for the job, it's her.  When I heard the legendary ring would be passed on to Kate, I was a little nervous.  It wasn't until I saw the actual pictures of her in that historic ring that I gave a little sigh of relief.  She looked amazing in her magnificent blue sapphire, matching her dress to the ring, as Diana did in numerous occasions. 


For my version of the "Diana" ring, I chose to work with cabochon cut sapphires instead of faceted ones, primarily because they are unique and not so widely used in jewelry design. I've used this cut a few times in my latest collection, so it was very natural for me to work with it again.  If I wanted to re-invent a classic, I had to do it in a way that was subtle and completely different.  I didn't want just another knock-off of a famous ring.  Instead I wanted my version, a ring that is very much Daniella Kronfle Jewelry, and I think I succeeded both in remembering Princess Diana and in designing something very special and super original. 



From celebrities like Penelope Cruz (her vintage engagement ring is very similar) to dozens of internet impostors, the original Royal engagement has inspired a myriad of copycats.  I think that the perfect combination of the peaceful blue and the diamonds is timeless, and that is part of the appeal.  For my version I decided to give it a little twist and make it quite modern by having many stones instead of just one big solitaire.


The challenge lay in bringing a piece that was very traditional to today's woman. It also had to be both versatile enough for day and night and wearable in every degree possible. I wanted the ring to hug the finger and have enough weight to stand alone or complement other pieces in my collection such as my fabulous "Liz" earrings below. 


The right piece of jewelry can make any woman look and feel like a princess, and that is my mission when I am creating all of my pieces. I think that with my "Diana" ring I achieved it. Hope you enjoyed the royal ring and post.  Have a great week.

With June being the beginning of wedding season here in the U.S., I've had a lot of requests for engagement rings.  




Since celebrity engagement rings are all the rage, my clients often get inspiration for their lovely sparklers from them.  And why not?  Since Liz Taylor, celebs are known to have very desirable rocks.  I did a little searching and found some incredible bling. Here are some of the most remarkable ones. 


Khloe Kardashian:

This year marks the Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee celebration.  But what's a diamond jubilee without diamonds?  I have always admired the royal collection of crowns, after all I have been endlessly inspired by them for my tiara designs.  Not only are they stunning pieces of high jewelry, but every crown tells a story and now I want to share my favorites with you.

The Queen's diamond diadem.

Originally created in 1821 for King George IV, this gorgeous concoction of diamonds and pearls is one of the Queen's favorites. 
The design includes roses, thistles and shamrocks, which are the symbols of England, Scotland and Ireland, respectively. This is one of the pieces that will be on display starting June 30th at Buckingham Palace in celebration of the  Queen's 60 years on the throne.

Imperial Crown of India

The crown above is known as the Imperial Crown of India, and served to commemorate George V's coronation at the Dehli Durbar in 1911.  Made specifically for his trip, it has been the only crown allowed to leave the country. It features more than 6000 diamonds, and the gems included in the design are emeralds, rubies and sapphires. Believe it or not, this crown has only been worn once!

Bucheron Tiara

A favorite of the Queen Mum, mother of Elizabeth II, this Bucheron diamond honeycomb tiara is simply stunning.   It was originally made by Bucheron in 1921. It was worn frequently by the Queen Mum and has been part of Queen Elizabeth's collection since her passing in 2002. Today, it is usually borrowed by Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, for official engagements.

The Imperial State Crown

My next fave is the Imperial State Crown.  Somewhat similar to the Imperial Crown of India, this majestic piece was made in 1937, and worn by the Queen at the end of her coronation ceremony.  Her majesty also also wears it on formal occasions, including the annual opening of Parliament. 

The Halo Tiara by Cartier

When it came to something borrowed, Princess Kate picked this beautiful tiara dubbed The Halo.  Designed in 1936 by Cartier, this beautiful diamond tiara was a gift to the Queen on her 18th birthday.  Set in platinum, this priceless piece is made with baguette cut diamonds, with the upper part forming a range of lotus flowers, while the lower zig zag part forms a detachable bandeau.

The Strathmore Rose

Next is the wonderfully simple Strathmore Rose tiara, which was worn in 1928 by the Queen Mum.  This stunning floral headpiece was a wedding gift from her parents when she married Prince Albert.  This classic art deco floral design was rumored to be one of the top contenders chosen by Kate, Duchess of Cambridge for her wedding day. In the end, the Halo won, and she lived happily ever after. Tough life!

Diana's gift from Elizabeth II: the Cambridge Lover's Knot Tiara

Last but not least is the Cambridge Lover's knot, gifted to Diana of Wales for her wedding. This beautiful creation was commissioned by Queen Mary in 1914 using her own pearls and diamonds as a tribute to her family. It is similar to a tiara owned by Princess Augusta of Hesse who married the Duke of Cambridge. There is a strong French influence in the design of this crown which boasts 19 diamond arches each enclosing Oriental pearls suspended from diamond lover's knots. The tiara gets its peculiar name from the design and from the Duke. It has been a part of the Queen's collection since Diana and Charles divorced.

The last couple of days have been crazy busy since I've been working on all the stuff I need to do for Miami Fashion Week, which is basically NOW. But since I'm in a fashion mode, I wanted to take a closer look of an Icon-to-be, Charlotte Casiraghi.




Charlotte is the granddaughter of one of my top inspirations and one of the most beautiful women who ever walked this earth: Grace Kelly, and boy does she have the style, attitude and looks to prove it.  Aside from being an accomplished equestrian, Casiraghi has always been a society page darling. But lately she has been getting tons of press as the stunning face of the new Gucci ads.

Her classic beauty is perfect for this campaign, and her fresh and down to earth style bring a different, more youthful take to the House of Gucci.  I have been following Charlotte since she was a little girl, always at her mother Princes Caroline's side.  Always gorgeous they always made a stunning pair. 


But now Charlotte is all grown up and coming out of the shadow of her fashionable mom and grandmom.  She has developed her own fresh, yet quite regal style choosing age appropriate frocks, complementing it it with youthful jewels, and key pieces from the royal collection. 






Her jewelry choices are always on the mark.  Attaining her look is quite easy because she sticks to simple pieces that work with a variety of looks and styles. These black diamond hoops from my collection are very much in the style of the young princess.

Charlotte also favors delicate pieces such as necklaces, bracelets and bangles.  Here she is in Vogue Magazine, and at the Rose Ball in Monaco looking absolutely divine in a blush colored dress and diamonds. 


I would get this look by wearing my tri-color celestial bangles.  They are made of baguette diamonds and 18kt yellow, white and rose gold.

Another fun choice for her would be these very girly, yet stylishly chic pieces, the mini papillon earrings and the delicate tiger's eye heart pendant. I think these pieces are perfectly minimalistic for the understated and earthy princess.

Whatever she choses, on the field or at an official engagement she always looks super. This is definitely one girl to look out for, so watch out Princess Kate, there is a new hot royal in town.

They say two great minds think alike and that there is no new idea under the sun.  I don't know if I necessarily believe it, but what happened recently makes me think.  It's definitely one of those things that makes you go "huh."  Let me explain.

Remember when I did my post on St Barth's?  Well for that wedding I attended during that trip, I styled my dear friend Carolina F (or Caro) in a beautiful turquoise  Chanel dress and these magnificent earrings. Keep in mind this was in May.

Here is the picture of Caro and me in St Barths.  She is of course wearing the infamous Chanel dress and  turquoise flower earrings from my collection.

The wedding came and went and she was very happy with her look at the event.  And  then here's the interesting part.  Months later, in July, Prince Albert of Monaco and Charlene Whittstock celebrated their nuptials, and as I was looking at the coverage in Harper's Bazaar I see this picture in the best dressed list:


It was the turquoise Chanel Dress, also styled with very similar (I think they are Van Cleef) turquoise clover earrings!  Princes Caroline went with different shoes and a hat, but I think the pictures speak for themselves.

I always knew my friend Caro had amazing style, and now she can say she's fit for royalty.  Do you think Princess Caroline read our blog or is this just a coincidence?
